 Some people like to keep track of how many steps they take each day or how many calories they burn in a workout.  Some people track the value of their investment portfolio, or their retirement account.  I'm a pastor, so one of the things I like to track is the number of sermons I've preached to you, right here in this room, over the course of the past 15 years.  Today happens to be sermon number 500.  I promise, I didn't plan it this way, for my 500th sermon to occur right on Easter Sunday (but maybe God did).

It had to be the Pastor's.  The point went in one ear, and right out the other."

The forces of the world, on the other hand, work to pull us apart, to separate us with labels and categories and affiliations (political, religious, socio-economic, you name it). The world says that your individual identity is the most important thing in the world--defend it at all costs.  But God, who created us (and who does value our uniqueness) says that our individuality is most beautiful and pleasing when we're working together for a common and shared purpose.  In other words, bring all your unique gifts and quirks to the table.  Don't use them as an excuse to divide and exclude each other from the table.
